Just a bit about Proxies!

Okay then! For all of you who really have NO idea what a proxy is, here's the answers to all your questions!
*NOTE: Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox not done!*

Q. What IS a proxy?
A proxy server, or a proxy hides your IP address and replaces it with a brand new one.

Q. What is an IP?!?!?
An IP is something EVERY computer has. It's like the ID or address of the computer and tells things your location. This is how Stardoll tells what country you are in and why you can't join a Swedish club, enter a German competition, etc. But with a proxy, it hides the IP and changes it, tricking Stardoll into thinking your from somewhere else.

Q. What's the difference between a manual proxy and a proxy server?
Well, proxy servers and manual proxies basically work the same, but a proxy server is a website which only works for that tab/window and a manual proxy works for all internet uploads and downloads.

Q. How do I use proxies?!?
They're quite easy really, once you get the hang of them. Proxy Servers are pretty straightforward, all you do is go to the website and type in the website. But Manual Proxies are slightly harder. It's different in every browser and I've posted detailed instructions underneath. (Thank you TSI for the pictures!)

INTERNET EXPLORER

GOOGLE CHROME

Go to the wrench Icon (under the exit sign) ➜ Options ➜ Under the Hood ➜ Scroll down and click Change proxy settings ➜ Connections ➜ LAN Settings ➜ Check ‘Use a proxy server’ ➜ Advanced ➜ Enter proxy and port ➜ OK

Q. Now what?
Congrats! Your ready to go! Now just go to whatever URL you wanted to!

Q. How do I turn off the Proxy?
Just go back to the proxy settings and do the opposite of what you did before!

Q. Anything else I should know?
Well, most proxies (manual OR server) slow down the internet. And Proxy Servers usually have many ads so be sure not to click any popups or Ads. Also, most proxy servers don't have flash, which is the program that makes you be able to see your suite, albums, etc :(.

That's it! All you need to know! :D
